On the weekend of 5th & 6th November 2022, The FA will be piloting a Silent Support Weekend to promote good behaviour in Youth Football. This will be the first of two Silent Support Weekends, with the second taking place later in the season.
The FA are encouraging spectators and coaches to show their support during the match through applause only. This will reduce pressure and confusion and give players a better opportunity to find their own voice and develop their game.
The problem is sometimes we need a reminder to make sure we put the players first.
Too often, there are too many voices from the touchline, too many opinions, and too much unnecessary distraction.
It’s why The FA are trialling a Silent Support Weekend to promote Respect in Youth Football, and why the League have signed up to take part.
The Silent Support Weekend will involve coaches and spectators having minimal verbal contact throughout games.
The FA’s aim is simple: to raise awareness of the need to create a positive and pressure-free environment in which children can enjoy football and learn to love and develop their game.
Further details will be provided shortly.
